Forget Venice and Paris, why not head to these quieter but beautiful and romantic destinations around the world this Valentines?
With beautiful islands, beaches, luxurious hotels and never ending sunshine, why wouldn’t you want to visit Hawaii? Couples who love the water should head to Oahu for sailing, snorkelling, scuba diving and surfing whilst couples who love nature should explore the natural wonders of alai and it’s rugged cliffs or head to Molokai and just relax.
I am a massive Romeo and Juliet fan so where better place to head to for Valentines than the place these two famous lovers met. You can visit Juliet’s balcony and spoilt your partner with as much pasta they can eat – true romance!
For a peaceful, relaxing trip that allows you to truly reconnect with each other, head to one of the many couples-only resorts and hideaway in the coves or on the beaches of this gorgeous island. Nothing beats the romantic sunsets, strolls along the beach, private dining options around the island, couple spa sessions and sipping champagne on a private charter. Or why not go hiking or visit the mineral baths.
Rajasthan has become more and more popular for honeymooners looking for something different and there is a reason! Head over to Jodhpur to explore the historic architecture, visit the Sarika Tiger Reserve or hike through the Ranthambore National Park. If you don’t fancy dining among 100 candles then how about in a cave? or in the middle of a rice field? or in a tree house? Or even take a cooking class and create your own dinner.

Adventurous couples can enjoy the many water sport opportunities, cycle around the gorgeous evergreen or visit the beautiful rice terrace Tegallalang. Full of colour and excitement, why not head to Buenos Aires and learn the dance of love – the tango. Whilst in the city, you can visit Jardin Japones (a beautiful park) or take a Gondola ride along the waterways. There is so much to see and do in this amazing city.
Morocco is often overlooked as a romantic destination spot but one of the best things about the country is how romantic trips can be taken on a budget. There are resorts both in Marrakech and by the beach that are relatively inexpensive but still beautiful and special! Cascades d’Ouzound offers the highest waterfalls in Morocco or why not take a couples camel ride through the Sahara? Or take a day trip to Atlas Mountains? Treat your valentines to some shopping at the local Souks or spoilt them with a hot air ballon flight over the desert.
Vienna is such a picturesque, gorgeous city that is an ideal destination for the city break couple who love to wander and explore the sights. Home to some of the best Opera in the world (with standing room tickets available), Vienna has a never ending list of romantic restaurants and activities. For those that love being surrounded by nature, the Lake District is the place for you. The nature makes for a beautiful backdrop for hikes, picnics and relaxing sunset strolls. You can also head to the Rookin House for a horse riding day or visit The World of Beatrix Potter!
Uncrowded but beautiful, Koh Tao is the perfect romantic island in the south of Thailand. Scuba divers can get their PADI course in the gorgeous open waters whilst fun loving couples can spend their evenings (and days) exploring the bars and restaurants available on Sairee beach. You may wish to take a quad bike around the island or take a boat ride around the island.
