Bali is an old favourite but definitely worth a visit. There are so man incredible things to see and do in Bali, with so many opportunities for couples – visit the Marigold Flower Fields between Bedugal and Kintamani or book the 100 candles dinner at The Samaya Ubud. If you don’t fancy dining among 100 candles then how about in a cave? or in the middle of a rice field? or in a tree house? Or even take a cooking class and create your own dinner.

There are gorgeous spas all over Bali but a favourite is the Kupu-Kupu Barong Resort spa overlooking the Ayung River. Adventurous couples can enjoy the many water sport opportunities, cycle around the gorgeous evergreen or visit the beautiful rice terrace Tegallalang. I love Venice and Paris but you’re right, there is so much more romantic to discover in the world. I personally love city trips for lovers, I loved Verona! But a trip to Hawaii or St. Lucia I’d definately consider, maybe even for a honeymoon! awhh swoooonnn

  • Only By Land

From this list I would pick St Lucia and the girl I would choose to take is my daughter! The picture you chose for Vienna is very unique, I’ve never seen it photographed from this angle before, I’m jealous!

  • Abhinav Singh

Those are some great destinations ideas for a romantic get away. I am delighted to see a destination from my country India. Rajasthan is great in winters. Please add Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) in the list. It is the epitome of romance.

  • Kate @ Love From Scotland

I love that you included the Lake District, it is one of my favourite parts of the UK and it is so beautiful. I have had a few romantic weekends away there. I like your other unusual suggestions, I would have never have thought to go to Rajasthan!

  • Mel I TravelingMel

What a great list! I think I’d like to go to St Lucia or Bali. A little sunshine sounds pretty great right now. We will be in the Lake District in a month or so. Not so romantic since we will be with our kids, but I am looking forward to it anyway.

  • Jen Morrow

Great list of places to explore with your honey. I prefer the secluded and quiet destinations for those romantic getaways like St Lucia or the Lake District (one of the least crowded spots in the UK).

  • Kassie

Yes! I totally agree that sometimes the destinations we label as super romantic like Venice, end up being slightly disappointing. I have found some of the most surprising destinations very romantic. I never would have thought of the Lake District but looking at the photo, it certainly looks romantic! Now I have to get to work booking a romantic getaway!

  • Sara Essop

I love this list. I’ve been to some of these places and really want to go to others like Buenos Aires. I would also add Istanbul to the list. I found it to be quite a romantic city too. Oh, and Cape Town as well.

  • Diana - MVMT Blog

Having never traveled to India before, I never would’ve thought of Rajasthan! Morocco has been high on my list of places to visit for a while now, and I hope to go soon. Unfortunately it’s somewhere that would be difficult to convince my boyfriend to go to with me, but one can hope!

  • Justine Cross

There are some great ideas on this list, thanks for sharing! I personally love the fact that Hawaii is number 1 (my all-time most favourite place to go)! Vienna and Bali are also really good suggestions – my boyfriend actually told me he loved me for the first time when we were in Vienna so something definitely brought out the romantic in him there!

    • Katie

      Thanks Justine,
yeah Hawaii looks incredible – I am trying to persuade my better half for our honeymoon there!! 🙂 So many beautiful places in the world! and aww that is so cute!

What a great list of destinations. As couple travellers we are always on the lookout for new places to visit and enjoy a romantic weekend! Even outside of the V day season <3

    • Katie

      Hey Cory,
Yeah I always try to plan a romantic trip, even if it is a night at a cute boutique hotel together 🙂
