Fun Mauritius Activities to Try When You’re Visiting

If you’ve got an exciting beach holiday to Mauritius coming up in the near future, you’re probably wondering what fun activities you can plan.

Whether you’re renting a beach hut or you’re staying at a hotel by the seaside in Mauritius, there’s plenty to do and you’re not going to be bored! The beach enables you to participate in exciting outdoor activities that you wouldn’t otherwise get the chance to try.

From water sports to snorkeling, here are six fun activities to try on your next beach holiday to the stunning country of Mauritius.

Mauritius activities

Wakesurfing

Wakesurfing involves riding on Hyperlite wakesurf board behind a boat via a tow rope. It may sound simple but it takes a lot of skill to get right!

During wake surfing, you jump off the wake into the air and eventually let go of the rope so that you’re riding through the ocean waves independently. You’ll get a rush of adrenaline as you admire the scenic ocean views.

Check to see if there is a local wake surfing school near your holiday destination so you can learn from the experts and make the most of your seaside vacation.

Cave Sea Kayaking

For those of you with an itch for adventure, cave sea kayaking is going to be right up your street! When vacationing in Mauritius, you will have the opportunity to explore the depths of beautiful rock caves and rock gardens.

You can head out with a professional guide and a group of other tourists to witness the stunning sites of the Cliffs of Alboin, which reside on the West Coast of the country. You won’t need to take your own swimming gear as life jackets and safety equipment will be provided by the company that is hosting the activity.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling is a fun and accessible activity that enables you to explore the beauty of the Indian ocean. Some of the best places in the country to go snorkeling include Blue Bay Marine Park, Trou aux Biches, and Pointe aux Piments.

While snorkeling, you can come face-to-face with sea life and view the incredible scenes under the water’s surface, and it’s an activity that is suitable for people of all ages and abilities. You don’t even need to know how to swim!

You can go snorkeling without the guidance of professionals or experts as long as you have the right equipment. At the very least, you will need a pair of snorkeling goggles or a snorkeling mask.

Your mask and snorkel enable you to see clearly underwater and breathe properly. It’s an essential piece of equipment to ensure that you are safe while submerged under the water.

Boat Trips

If you want to go further out into the sea and explore the amazing sea life that resides in the depths of the Indian ocean, consider booking a boat trip at a nearby facility while you’re on a beach vacation in Mauritius. Have a quick search online to see what kinds of trips are available.

Should you choose to stay on the coast of Tamarin, you will be able to join a popular two-hour boat trip where you can spot dolphins and whales. While you won’t always come face to face with these beautiful sea creatures, you might be able to spot them from afar.

During this trip, you might even get the chance to jump out of the boat (with a qualified guide, of course) and swim with the dolphins. This will depend on the weather and the sea conditions, and it’s not recommended for pregnant women.

Beach Volleyball

If you’re looking for a great way to exercise while bonding with your friends, family, and other tourists who are visiting Mauritius, volleyball is a great option. All you need is a ball and a net, and you can spend hours of fun on the sand on the stunning coast.

There might even be some local teams that might you can join while you’re on vacation to learn how to play volleyball, including all of the rules of the game and the proper techniques.

Parasailing

Mauritius is the perfect destination for parasailing. You can admire the incredible lagoons and coastlines of the country from a birds-eye perspective as you glide seamlessly through the air.

Depending on where you are in the country and the company that you’ve booked your activity with, your parasailing experience can last anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes. This is plenty of time to clear your mind and fully immerse yourself in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

You’ll need to wear the proper safety gear to keep yourself well-secured in the harness while you’re parasailing. However, don’t worry because this is something that the professionals at the parasailing company will check!
