When you dream of a beach honeymoon in India, Goa undoubtedly comes to mind and is one of the top places to visit in India. This well-known beach destination is popular for a chill-out vacation. The state coast is full of beaches, each with a unique atmosphere. This guide to the beaches of Goa will help you select one that is right for you. If you want to be in the heart of the action, the Candolim-Baga stretch is the most developed, while South Goa is quiet and little frequented.

The temperature is not very high since it is a city located in the coastal region, but humidity increases the collector. Exploring the city may feel more tired than usual. The heat during these months usually leads to the closing of many huts on the beaches and some activities will also go off.

Romantic places to visit in Goa

Basilica of Bom Jesus

One of Goa’s main attractions is the Basílica de Bom Jesus. A basilica was built in 1605 by the Portuguese settlers. It is a Catholic basilica where the mortal remains of San Francisco Javier, one of Goa’s discoverers, lie. The basilica is known for its architecture since it is painted a very characteristic white color.

Cathedral Se

It is a church built in 1619 that was dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria. It is one of the largest churches in India and was built to commemorate the day of the Portuguese’s victory over the Muslim rulers of Goa.

Another of the best things to see in Goa is the church of San Francisco de Asís. It is a church built in 1661 located behind the Cathedral Se. The architecture is impressive, as it has striking panels painted on the walls and an imposing structure.

Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception

It is the oldest church in Panaji, built in 1541. The towers of the church have a statue of Mother Mary in front. The church bell is the second largest bell in the world.

Shree Manguesh Shantadurgai Pradanna Temple

The temple is dedicated to Shiva. It is located in Mangeshi, 22km from Panaji. The temple is famous for its location, surrounded by hills and covered with forests. Thousands of visitors visit it every year.

Pristine beach

Goa is blessed with 105 km of coastline and some of the most picturesque beaches you would expect to find in Asia, and visiting these beaches is one of the best things to do in Goa. Many of the beaches are lively and backed by picturesque beach huts, demonstrating great places to throw their shoes and drink a kingfisher beer while the sun goes down. Others, however, are much quieter and lonely – quiet oases where the only sound is the sound of the waves and the whisper of coconut trees swaying in the sea breeze.

Do sports on the beaches of Goa

On the beaches of Goa you can practice water sports such as scuba diving, diving, surfing, jet skiing or kayaking. You can practice some of these sports both on the beaches of Goa and on the banks of the river. A perfect activity for both nature lovers and those who want to live a fun adventure on their Goa itinerary.

Visit the Dudhsagar waterfall

It is the highest waterfall in India, formed by four levels. It is located on the Mandovi River. The waterfall is 60 km from Panaji, in an area surrounded by rich biodiversity and beautiful scenery, known as Bhagwan Mahavir. You can reach the Dudhsagar waterfall by bus or car.

Overnight in a traditional boat

Cruise on the river in the floating house Sialis “Relaxed Waters”, giving guests an authentic insight into life in the backwaters of Goa. Some of the attractions you will find include scenes from the life of the riverside village, agriculture, cockle fishing, an incredible variety of birds and the sunset behind the coconut trees.

Enjoy the nightlife in Goa

On the beaches of Goa, the night is very lively and there is a lot of atmosphere. It is one of the most recognized areas for nightlife lovers. There are excellent entertainment centers, casinos, water parks, clubs, bars next to each beach, among other activities. In the northern part, there is more party than in the south. The busiest partying places in Goa you must visit, in India, are:

  • Club Tito’s (Caverlossim)
  • Sea Bar (Anjuna)
  • Pine Shack (Calangute)
  • Cafe Mambo (Calangute)

How to get to Goa

To get to Goa you can do it by plane. Goa International Airport, Diabolim (GOI) is located about 29 km south of Panaji. If you make an internal flight, keep in mind that from Delhi the flight lasts 2:30 hours and from Bombay the flight is 1h.
