making money

Along with your job, it never hurts to earn a bit of extra money whilst you’re saving for a big trip. There are lots of websites out there that offer online positions but not all are worth your time, it is your choice on whether you choose to sign up to these websites but there are some of my favourite.

1) People Per Hour

This website allows you to offer any of your skills as a freelancer for people to pay for per hour. We earnt money on People per hour as freelance writers and graphic designers. You can also bid for work that people advertise on the website.

2) Etsy

Etsy allows you to sell handmade product directly to people across the world. From posters to jewellery, clothes to toys, you can sell any product on etsy, as long as it’s handmade.

3) Ebay

Now you are travelling the world, do you need all your stuff? Perhaps so, but it may be worth having a big clear out of all your unwanted items and sell anything decent on Ebay or head to a car boot sale. Before we headed to Asia, we made a few hundred on eBay, selling a few records and study books.

4) Air B’n’b

If you have a spare room or spare home whilst your travelling, why not sign up to Air b’n’b and rent your place out whilst your away.

5) Become an online tutor

Take an online TEFL course or brush up on your English and Maths and offer online tutoring. ITutorGroup and are both well worth a visit if teaching is your thing.

6) Fiverr

Similar to People Per Hour but with a set price of a $5. If you have a talent that is short and easy then Fiverr is worth it but just don’t spend too much time on it.

7) User testing

If you have a computer with a microphone, then try User testing; a website that gives you jobs and pays fairly well. The job is simply to visit different websites, complete certain tasks such as “find the opening times” and talk aloud your thoughts and actions as you go.

8) Blogging with affiliate links

If you have some time before your trip and love writing, why not set up a blog about your favourite interest. We love travel, hence why we have set up a travel blog. You can then use affiliate links that can earn you money every time a reader makes a purchase via your link.

9) Matched betting

Earn cash with no-risk matched betting; taking advantage of the offers and cash sums that bookmakers use to attract new and existing customers. Profit Accumulator walks you through the ins and outs of matched betting, giving you clear step-by-step guidance including video guides, a dedicated help team and extensive forum. The website lists all opening and current offers which you can simply work your way through in your own time, placing bets on all outcomes to ensure a profit is guaranteed.

Profit Accumulator is ideal for those wishing to try matched betting as they offer a free trial, risk-free that talks you through two sign-up offers that net you £45. To find out more, read our blog post.

10) TopCashBack

TopCashBack is a favourite website of mine. Every time you purchase something online, find the link via the TopCashBack website and receive cash back at no extra cost. We make around £100 on TopCashBack every few months and even more when we book holidays via the links on this website.

So these are some of the ways we made money before our first few travel trips, we also wrote a post about ways you can make money whilst you travel – give it a read!
