During our stay in Washington, D.C., we booked ourselves some front row (yes! front row!) seats to a Washington Nationals game. The stadium was really easy to get to and everyone was so friendly! We spent far too much money in the store and headed to our seats kitted head to toe in red merchandise – such tourists!

We wandered around, having no idea where we were going and looking for a uniformed person to direct us to our seats – Lesson 1, must remember we are at a baseball game and not a Broadway show. Actually use eyesight to find seats!

We arrived in our seats and lots of local fans started talking to us, asking us how long we had been fans and who our favourite player is… Lesson 2 – Before decking yourself out in the team colours and bagging front row seats, figure out who the good players are and actually watch a game on TV beforehand!

I won’t even pretend I understood the rules of the game but it was fun and the atmosphere was great. I loved the presidential run (giant mascots competing in a lap around the field) and we even made it to the big screen singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame!”.

Highlight of our trip to Washington, D.C.!

  1. I’ve never been to a baseball game, but it looks like a lot of fun! And you had excellent seats too. Front row! Bet it was an awesome experience 😀

  2. Going to a sporting event is so much better than watching it on Television! I am not a sports fan, so I end up people watching in the stands and the players on the field. How fun that you scored awesome seats!

    • Hey Jen, I totally do the same! I love people watching although it was quite tricky to do from the front!

  3. Front row seats! You had a great spot to watch your first game! Great way to experience “the great American pass time”!

  4. I’ve never been to a baseball match!!! never in my life but you just gave me an idea for my next trip to the US! Thank you! And yes, I will also try to get front seats 😉

    • This was our first baseball game, we have been to 2 more since at different venues. We loved it!

  5. We’ve never been on any baseball game, actually haven’t even watched on TV any, but probably we should try while we are overseas! Seems like a lot of fun!

  6. I would too be sat there pretending to know the rules. Whilst I was in New York, I watched an ice hockey game. It was so much fun.
I can’t believe you were in the front row for this. Some fantastic photos of this baseball game!

    • I want to go to an Ice Hockey game! It must of been great to see the NY Rangers!

  7. I’ve never gone to a sporting event (definitely not baseball because I know nothing about it, hah!) but I’m glad you had fun! I wouldn’t mind going if I had seats like yours. It’d be fun just cheering the teams on even if I didn’t understand 😛

  8. That’s so cool you got front row seats! A friend from Lithuania came to visit me in Chicago, and I took her to a Cubs game, and she was so confused when everyone started singing “take me out to the ballgame” at the 7th inning! She loved it though, but great tip about that so others know. 🙂
