When visiting Qatar, it is very important to remember that is very hot. The average temperature in Qatar is 30°C, with highs often exceeding 40°C. The heat can be unbearable, especially during the summer months (June to August), when temperatures can surpass 50°C. 

It’s important to stay hydrated and avoid spending prolonged periods of time outdoors during the hottest hours of the day. Especially since it is a dry country, with little rainfall and high temperatures, and is classified as a desert climate. This means that there are large areas of sand dunes around the country.

Luckily, with the World Cup tournament scheduled to take place from the 21st of November to the 18th of December 2022, the average temperatures will be much more bearable averaging out at 20°C, with the highs reaching 30°C.

For those who want to experience Qatar’s natural beauty, a visit to Al Zubarah Fort is a must. This 18th-century fort is one of the best-preserved historic sites in Qatar and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. You should take a tour out to the desert and enjoy some dune bashing.

The official language of Qatar is Arabic but English is also widely spoken, especially with their vast expat community. Islam is the official religion and Ramadan is observed throughout the country. 

Qatar’s culture is a mix of traditional Arabic and Bedouin influences. Bedouin traditions include camel racing and falconry, while Arabic traditions include calligraphy and coffeehouses. Qatar hosts a number of annual festivals and events, including /the Qatar International Film Festival and the Doha Tribeca Film Festival.

With a low crime rate and a strong security presence, Qatar is a safe place to visit for both locals and foreigners alike. The Qatari government has taken steps to ensure that the country is secure for the upcoming World Cup, with an increased police presence and enhanced security measures at all major tourist attractions.

With that said, it is advised that you dress modestly when traveling to Qatar. For example, wear clothes that cover your shoulders and knees, avoid tight or revealing clothing, and be especially mindful of what you wear when visiting religious sites. And when near religious sites, be respectful of religious beliefs by not taking photos of people praying or entering mosques.

In addition, in Qatar, men and women are not allowed to display any kind of public affection, from kissing to holding hands. Along with this, alcohol is only available in licensed hotels and restaurants. This is due to the fact that Qatar is a Muslim country and therefore has different customs and traditions. It is important to be respectful of these differences and not to offend anyone while you are in their country. 

Overall, just use common sense and be respectful of the culture you are visiting. By doing so, you will have a much more enjoyable experience while in Qatar.
