Back in 2009, a friend of mine went travelling around South East Asia by herself and at that time, I thought she was crazy. I had no desire to explore anything further than London. The following year, another friend of mine bagged herself a dream summer job at Walt Disney World, being from the UK I didn’t even know that was possible.
It was that summer, whilst I was working away at a retail store, that I realised there was so much more I could be seeing and doing in life. No, travel isn’t for everyone and there is nothing wrong with loving that favourite beach resort year in, year out. But I decided that actually, I wanted much more than that.
So the next year I applied for the Camp America programme and was offered an instructor role in Long Island, NY. From here, me and Calum visited Niagara Falls, Washington DC and NYC and loved every minute of it. As soon as we returned, we started thinking about where we could and should go to next. Calum’s Tokyo dream and my longing to climb the Great Wall of China took us to Asia, where we lived our ambition of travel and exploring different cultures, foods, histories and lifestyle.
