Choosing the Perfect Romantic Hotel in Chicago

Finding the right place to stay is a big part of setting the tone for your weekend. Chicago has a variety of hotels that cater to couples seeking a romantic retreat.

Hotels with Skyline Views

If you both love cityscapes, consider booking a room with a panoramic view of Chicago’s iconic skyline. Waking up to the sunrise over the skyscrapers or watching the city lights twinkle at night can be truly magical.

Many hotels offer floor-to-ceiling windows or private balconies where you can enjoy these views together.

We enjoyed our stays in the Waldorf Astoria with its beautiful skyline view rooms and Sofitel located on the Magnificent Mile.

Luxurious Stays

Picture this: after a day filled with adventures, you both return to your room and relax in a private jacuzzi. Sounds perfect, right?

There are many romantic hotels in Chicago with jacuzzis in-room, providing a cozy and intimate setting. Some of these hotels offer stunning views of the city or lake, adding that extra touch to your stay. It’s a wonderful way to relax together in privacy and comfort.

Romantic things to do in Chicago

Now that we’ve sorted out where to stay, let’s dive into planning some activities that will make your weekend special.

1. A Stroll Along the Magnificent Mile

One of the best ways to absorb the city’s vibe is by taking a leisurely walk down the Magnificent Mile. This lively stretch is lined with high-end shops, historic buildings, and charming street performers.

You can pop into boutiques, grab a coffee at a local café, or simply enjoy people-watching. It’s a great opportunity to chat, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company without any rush.

For my birthday this year, we went to the Starbucks Reserve here; this sounds lame but there is a gorgeous cocktail bar that serves the best espresso martini I have EVER had!

2. Sunset at Navy Pier

No romantic weekend in Chicago is complete without a trip to Navy Pier. It is touristy but it’s worth a visit when you are in the city.

Watching the sunset over Lake Michigan from the pier is breathtaking. You might consider taking a ride on the Centennial Wheel, which offers stunning views from 200 feet up in the air.

There are also boat tours that provide a romantic setting as you glide over the water, watching the sky change colors.

Visits during the Summer also give you a chance to see the fireworks every Wednesday and Saturday evening.

3. Exploring Art and Culture

If you both appreciate the arts, Chicago won’t disappoint.

The Art Institute of Chicago houses an incredible collection of artworks from around the world. Wandering through the galleries hand-in-hand can be both inspiring and romantic.

If theater is more your scene, consider catching a show at one of the city’s renowned venues like the Chicago Theatre or the Goodman Theatre. At the time of writing this, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is currently playing and magical!

4. Visiting Millennium Park

No trip to Chicago is complete without visiting Millennium Park; arguably one of the best things to do in Chicago. You can take fun photos at the Cloud Gate sculpture (also known as “The Bean”), enjoy the gardens, or catch a live performance if you’re lucky. It’s a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors together.
